Today the world is in turmoil due to global economic meltdown that could be solved if the necessary economic variables-human capital development, career development, balance of payment, fiscal discipline, effective monetary policy and fiscal policy, effective indigenization policy, GNP and GDP are properly harnessed. Its advisable we have more entrepreneurs than government owned establishment. In Europe, the shakers and movers of the economies are the capitalist-entrepreneurs. These are men despite all odds successfully climbed the CAREER ladder and achieve a greet height.

Career has been define differently by different authors/scholars..According to Oxford Englis Dictionary, it sees career as an individuals course or progress through life or a distinct portion of life.-It is also ones calling in life; a persons occupation, an individual work and life roles over their life span. A chosen pursuit; a profession or occupation.- The sum total of your life experiences including education, paid and unpaid work and community volunteer and family activities.- A life-work chosen by a person to use personal talent, provide some services or goods, earn money and contribute to society.- From the above definitions, we can see that all sees career from different perspective but have a common goal-ones vocation, ones life-work and ones talent. A career is quite different from a Job. Although some people use them interchangibly. A career is a longterm means of earning a living. It requires definite selection from wide range of occupations that are open for consideration. While a Job is a short/medium means of earning a living . In job selection, you are being paid and also you work for others. Though there some careers that are develop and build through job. Some people build their career from their existing job. For instance some consultancy outfits we have were as a result of people former experience in where they worked before. While others might be as a result of deep passion or desire that is borne out of thought. What Im saying in essence is that you can build your career through your existing Job. Are you a sales person? You can become a sales consultant and have your firm. Are you an auditor in an organization? You can start thinking of establishing your audit firm, where you can be an employer of labour. Just think of something you can do from your existing Job in order to earn a living. There are other careers that must not necessarily be from your existing Job. We have people that have taken football and other forms of sport as career. Others are into Music, Acting, Writing, Fine Arts etc. These forms of career basically call for ones talent(s) or potentials. Others could come as a result of you read in school. For instance you can build your career in the following fields Medicine, Accounting, Law, Estate Management, Architectural, Mass Communication etc. Every course in the educational curriculum is designed to make you reliance. Due to quest of white collar Jobs, we have neglected the potentials accruable from what we read in school. Instead of thinking of a Job, why not start thinking of a career through a Job.
